One of our long-standing gallery members, Ellen Pavlakos opens her solo-exhibition, “Work in Process” this Friday, October 3rd. Pavlakos works in clay, plaster, stone, and other contemporary materials, casting most of her work in bronze.
Her sculptures are exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the state of Florida and she has competed and exhibited in many statewide and national competitions as well as in Paris, France, Athens and Thessalonica, Greece, and Nicosia, Cyprus.
The figure is her vehicle of expression. There is a continuing thread of concern with human emotions through most of her work. Through a link to the classical Greek, a positive feeling of the human experience and glorification of life communicates directly to the viewer.
The front gallery of the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery will become Ellen’s studio during the month of October. It will be fascinating to see the process from the beginning to the finished work in plaster or bronze. Pavlakos will be working in the gallery studio on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm during October. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this master sculptor at work.
