Nancy Crawford

“I paint because I am in love with painting. I feel a responsibility to my art and to myself to produce an image that will share with the viewer my feelings and thoughts. If through my art, I can make one more aware of nature and conscious of its beauty, then I feel I have been successful. If my watercolor makes the viewer reflect on his own feelings, then I feel the painting is successful.”

Nancy Crawford, a native of Ohio, has lived in Florida since 1948. She began her art career in 1970 after attending Brevard Community College and the Eliot McMurrough School of Art. Later, she was the Faculty Director and Instructor at the Eliot McMurrough School of Art. She has been the Director of the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, Melbourne, Florida for fourteen of its forty-eight. Nancy’s watercolors have been featured in major national exhibitions, including the prestigious Watercolor USA, Southeastern Watercolorists III and IV, Coconut Grove, Winter Park and Gasparilla, winning many top awards. Nancy has had numerous one woman shows and is well represented in many corporate and private collections. She is still very active painting and conducting watercolor seminars and demonstrations.

Nancy Crawford’s paintings are impressionistic transparent watercolors. They clearly reflect her commitment to capturing a close observation of nature by painting light and color. Nancy’s paintings have received many national and regional awards and are included in corporate and public collections in the United States and abroad.
