2025 Gallery Exhibition Schedule

January

Solo Exhibit by Michiel Bullock
January 2-February 2, 2025

I started painting with oils and, occasionally acrylics, in 1967.  As a self-taught artist,  I focus almost entirely on traditional representational landscapes and seascapes, with a strong leaning toward realism done exclusively in oils.

I have found a fascination, (possibly an obsession), with the way light, shadow and color come together to bring out the drama that exists in approaching storm clouds or the strength delivered to a powerful ocean wave… or the calmness found in the early morning surf.  Working to capture the quiet of the first rays of daylight filtering into the deep forest, carried on the mist of the lingering morning fog.  I cannot stand in Yosemite Valley and not be awed by the sheer majesty of El Capitan, yet at once be challenged by the impossibility of trying to recreate its’ beauty on canvas.  To travel along the sandy coast of the southeast or the steep perilous cliffs of the Pacific coast, or the mountains and plains in between, and wrestle with simply enjoying natures’ beauty, or rushing back to the studio to put it on canvas. Every day delivers a new gift of color, light and shadow to enjoy and capture with paint and canvas.

Sona Barseghyan Solo Exhibit

January 2- February 2, 2025

Born and raised in Armenia, I started drawing very early, and I pursued art in high school and university. I have worked in various mediums, including digital art, but watercolor is my favorite.

I am fascinated with nature, specifically with flowers and they are quite often subjects of my art. I am striving to capture the fleeting, ephemeral nature of blooming flowers through expressionistic, abstract brush strokes. I grew up in Armenia, a country of primary colors, with its red and orange mountains, purple and violet shadows. My art reflects the culture of my ancestry. ~Sona Barseghyan

Brenda Truesdale Solo Exhibit, Heart & Spirit

February 4 – March 2, 2025

“I strive to bring out the heart and spirit of each piece”

Brenda Truesdale began her artistic career as an apprentice at a bronze foundry in Sarasota, Florida training in lost wax metal casting.  During that time, she became a master in wax work and mold making and adept in the patina process.  She has developed a distinctive style in her bronze castings.

Her smooth, linear lines reflect Brenda’s life-long love of creating three dimensions.  Her main focus is to translate into bronze the subject’s essence – to capture a moment – and present it in a stylized form. Brenda can get lost in the artistic process and even surprise herself to see what the final creation reveals!

Continuing with her love for casting in three dimensions, Brenda now resides in Melbourne Beach, Florida where she uses nature around her for inspiration.

James Askiew Solo Exhibit, Interaction in Various Places

February 4- March 2, 2025

My works of art over several years is an expression of my natural and spiritual revelations. I create a range of landscapes in simple relevance, in working with ink, and oil color mediums. I seek to give them a place to belong that would create a relationship over time to which one’s thoughts and ideas spiritually flow.

My risk-taking methods to create works of art weave together a theme in creative exploration, contemplative beauty, fragility and strength and mystery.

Andrea Florstedt, A Change of Scenery

I love to travel, especially to places with historical charm. It gives me a change of scenery, something different from my day-to-day routine. Many of these paintings were started outdoors (in plein air) on trips around the Southeast, and either finished on location or afterwards in the studio from sketches and photos.

Because of my background in architecture, I tend to pick out city scenes with houses, churches, buildings, gardens, or parks. I’m drawn to the way these structures are integrated with their natural settings, especially around water – the ocean, rivers, lakes, and springs. When framing a composition, I focus on the arrangement of shapes and look for contrasts like light and shadows.

Through traveling and the process of painting, my view of the scenery has also changed, and I’ve learned how to find intriguing subjects as a tourist in my own town. I hope our local viewers will recognize some of these places and maybe even come to see the familiar scenes in a different light.

Solo Exhibit by Julio Martinez
Dreamscapes: Exploration in Time & Space

You’re invited to experience Dreamscapes: Explorations in Time and Space, the debut gallery show of Colombian-born artist Julio Martínez. Raised amid the vibrant chaos of mid-century Bogotá, Julio’s creative journey has been shaped by early cinematic influences, a love of music, and a lifelong fascination with movement—both physical and emotional. His path from architect to artist is a layered exploration of identity and emotion, expressed through paintings that offer glimpses into a psyche shaped by migration, family, and the pursuit of transcendence. Now based in Palm Bay, Florida, Julio invites viewers to experience weightless realms where time and space intersect in vivid, emotional works of art.

Lost & Found—Take VI An Invitational Exhibit

July 1–July 27, 2025

How it works…

Back by popular demand… This exhibit is all about creativity, and YOU are invited to participate. We had such a great response to both the original Lost & Found show several years ago and again in August of 2021. Along with being an exciting opportunity for creative types, it is a fabulous exhibit of finished work that everyone coming to the gallery has enjoyed!

You, the creative person (you don’t have to be a “professional artist) purchase one of our pre-assembled kits which contains all the “elements” that you must include, in some manner, to create your mixed media assemblage. You can add to it to go further than what’s in the kit… that’s just part of being your creative-self. We hope you take the challenge. Kits will be available for purchase mid-April, 2025. The finished artworks will be displayed and for sale, throughout the month of July and we will have an exciting opening reception for all our participants on Friday, July 4, 2024. LIMITED SPACE! Kit fee $45 (no additional fee to participate) Follow us on Facebook to see the Call For Art! Or email us and ask for an update, once the kits are ready for purchase. They go fast!

Interested in participating? We will announce when the kits are available for purchase.

LOLLY WALTON ~ Watercolor Visuals

“I am a self-taught artist beginning my art journey in high school. It wasn’t until 1997 that I took watercolor lessons at Miami Dade Community College, and Fairchild Gardens in Miami. I was hooked on watercolor and color.” After retirement in 2004, I relocated to Brevard County where I discovered a plethora of artistic talent and resources to improve my art. I served as President of the Brevard Watercolor Society for two terms and served as chair of Splash for 5 years. I continue to volunteer for BWS as it keeps me active, creative, and I meet the most interesting and artistic individuals.” Lolly Walton

RICHARD GILMOR
WATERSCAPES

Influenced by Impressionists like Monet and Cezanne, Richard started painting water scenes in high school. His father, Richard Sr., already an accomplished artist, encouraged and taught him the finer points of perspective and color theory. After graduating with a sixty-hour major/minor in Fine Art from Western Michigan University, Richard embarked on a 36-year career in sales and marketing. During this time, including several business startups, art played a role in things like ad campaigns and marketing strategies. After retiring in2005, Richard picked up the brush again and joined the Sebastian River Art Club. Still active in the club, Richard has served as chair of Art in Public Places, Vice President, and President of the club.
Talking about his motivation the artist says, “The interplay of light and reflection on the water remains fascinating to me. Thirty years of living in the Florida Keys and traveling through the Caribbean has given me a huge store of visual memories, and I enjoy putting them down on canvas”.
