“My inspiration starts with either a new technique I want to try or a beautiful flower or bird I have observed in nature. I want to share with the viewer a playfulness in my abstracts, and in my nature pieces I want to share God’s gift of nature through color and textures.”
“I love the challenge and reward of creating something on paper. I work in multiple image compositions many times and enjoy the the complexity of the process. I want my viewers to enjoy that also.”
Kaye Shannon is a contemporary artist whose love for color and drama are expressed in her paintings. She likes to visually draw her viewers into her paintings. Whether it is her watercolor weavings, multilayered images, or her dramatic color usage, she wants the viewer to spend time discovering and exploring her subject.
Taking up painting later in life, Kaye discovered the world of art and creativity from her first teacher, Lois Stier. Lois introduced her to the “art spirit” and things have never been the same. “I began seeing the world in a whole different way – light, color, shape, texture, Whee!!!!!” Kaye has participated in workshops by M. Doug Walton, James Koevening, Jon Houghton, and Terry Madden.
Kaye is a member of the Florida Watercolor Society and a founding member of the Brevard Watercolor Society. She was very active and served on the Board of Directors of the Artists’ Forum then affiliated with the Brevard Museum of Art
and Science. She also was a founding member of the Strawbridge Art League in Melbourne and served on its board.
Kaye presently lives in Viera, Florida with her husband Roger.
