BETH FAIRCHILD
WAKING UP IN PARADISE
Seaglass Morning, oil

The oil paintings for Fairchild’s solo exhibition, Waking Up in Paradise, will focus on all the things Fairchild loves about life in Florida birds, the ocean, boats, flowers, and the tropical landscape.
Beth-Anne Fairchild came to Florida from Vermont in the early seventies. She spent twenty-eight years as one of the first female agents with State Farm Insurance. Having started in watercolor, she believes that it is the hard work learning techniques and experimenting with materials that really makes you an artist. She has dabbled in acrylic, mixed media, photography and now oils. When asked why she does not keep painting in one medium or one subject, Beth tells people she gets bored with herself and must always be evolving. She loves painting from nature and studying how sunlight and colors are really a combination of interacting abstract shapes making a beautiful object.

ROBIN LEE MAKOWSKI
HAPPY HOUR GARDEN PARTY

Chicago native, Robin Lee Makowski, was ten years old before she realized not everyone saw the world the way she did.  What appeared to be daydreaming to some people was actually an intense study of line and tone, light and shadow, by a young, budding artist.  She could draw well by the time she was four, but it was not until into her teens that she became passionate about the natural gifts inherited from her father and her maternal grandfather, both artists.

Robin focuses on nature for her subjects in her award-winning work but is inspired by anything “with the right light and lots of color.”  Working exclusively from her own original concepts, she captures nuance and personality in all her work.  The viewer realizes that the subject is something the artist knows well and loves, by the handling of the media, the composition, detail, and the play of light and color in the image.  Robin’s subjects range from her first love, fauna, to the collection of native plants in her own garden, to her creative still life set-ups, to figure studies and portraiture.

16th Annual 100% Pure Florida, juried exhibition

100% Pure Florida highlights the varied and extraordinary talents of local, regional and state-wide Florida artists. Pure Florida refers to the artist’s residence. Subject matter and style are unlimited. This call for artists is open to all Florida artists who are 18 years of age and up.

We jury the artwork for the show by a panel of gallery artists, and invite a judge each year, not associated with the gallery, to choose our award winners. Last year our awards totaled $2100 along with a solo exhibition for our 1st Place Winner. Many of our awards are sponsored by local businesses, art organizations and individuals who value visual arts in Brevard.

JOHN BUCK
REIMAGINE

Local artist John Buck is combining his skills as a graphic designer and professional photographer to reimagine his work as paintings. This exhibit features Buck’s dynamic digital designs printed on an aluminum substrate for a clean and contemporary look. These paintings will never fade and are washable! The art is bold, colorful and large, ranging from 20″ to 40″ in size. John’s work is carefully designed specifically for home decor and is painted with a Florida palette in mind.  He takes a complicated scene and makes it a simple and pleasing visual statement.

WELL SAID, AN INTERPRETATION OF QUOTES

Our gallery member artists will be choosing a famous quote from a provided list and interpreting it through a newly created piece of art! Here are just a few of the quotes we had to choose from: “Why not go out on a limb, that’s where the fruit is.” ~Mark Twain “Love is the flower, you’ve got to let grow” ~John Lennon “The time, the time, who’s got the time?” Hare, Alice in Wonderland

There is a lot of excitement about this creative exploration by our member artists! We look forward to sharing our “interpretations” with you.

Abstract Fields by Elizabeth Fernandez (in the Pop-Up Gallery space)

Melbourne based artist, Elizabeth Fernandez, has been creating art for the past several years. She graduated from Virginia Tech’s Studio Art Program in 2019, receiving the most outstanding senior award based on her final exhibition. She is fascinated by the act of mark-making and the process of creating art. Her work is an accumulation of moments shared with nature. She works to commemorate the beauty of nature through color, sporadic brushstrokes, and playful gestures. Elizabeth currently works from her home studio, but also enjoys painting outside to be closer to her inspiration.

LOST & FOUND TAKE III

AN INVITATIONAL EXHIBIT

Back by popular demand… This exhibit is all about creativity, and YOU are invited to participate. We had such a great response to both the original Lost & Found show several years ago and again in August of 2021. Along with being an exciting opportunity for creative types, it is a fabulous exhibit of finished work that everyone coming to the gallery has enjoyed!

How it works…

You, the creative person (you don’t have to be a “professional artist) purchase one of our pre-assembled kits which contains all the “elements” that you must include, in some manner, to create your mixed media assemblage. You can add to it to go further than what’s in the kit… that’s just part of being your creative-self. We hope you take the challenge. Kits will be available for purchase mid-April, 2022. The finished artworks will be displayed and for sale, throughout the month of July and we will have an exciting opening reception for all our participants on Friday, July 1, 2022. LIMITED SPACE! Kit fee $45 (no additional fee to participate) Follow us on Facebook to see the Call For Art!

SPINO SMALL WORKS

In 2009, a friend took Frank to his first watercolor show.  The talent surprised him… and it got him excited about the medium.  Soon after, he began a serious exploration of watercolor.

Frank started his career as a sign painter.  He painted thousands of walls and windows, developed logos and branded businesses, large and small.  Later, as a billboard painter, he often painted a 10’ x 30’ billboard in a single day.  As the age-old craft of sign painting began to wane due to the advancement of computer technology, he went with the rising tide and transitioned to computer graphics. Frank’s decades of creating good design, his knowledge of color, and tens of thousands of hours with a brush in hand were of tremendous benefit when he finally turned his eye towards water.

Frank had a five month solo show at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, Florida.  His watercolors have been selected for exhibitions: World of High Watercolor in Russia, Missouri Watercolor International Exhibition in Spain, World Watercolor Masters at the International Watercolor Society in Holland, World Watercolor Masters Select Group at The Hague, International Watercolor III, IV & V in Greece, Biennial International Prize Marche D’Acqua in Italy, Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial in China, Shanghai-Zhujiajiao International Watercolor Exhibition in China, FabrianoInAcquarello in Italy, International Watercolor Society in Canada, National Watercolor Society (NWS), American Watercolor Society (AWS), Transparent Watercolor Society (TWSA), Southern Watercolor Society (SW), Florida Watercolor Society (FWS) and many other regional and state Watercolor Societies.

His paintings have been published in The Art of Watercolor, American Artist Watercolor, Watercolor Artist, the Orlando magazines and many others.  He also had the cover and a seven page article in Watercolor Artist.  Frank’s paintings have been on the cover of “Splash 14, The Best of Watercolor,” a hardbound book published annually, and his paintings have been included again in Splash 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21. He has achieved signature status in the AWS, NWS, TWSA & FWS.
